Potting Shed Direct

About Us

This is a family affair. My children have lived eaten and breathed Potting Shed Direct since its creation. It’s a way of life for us. They have sown seeds, watered, pinched out and nurtured lovingly also nibbled, gobbled and drunk secretly and blatantly! I spent many years as a nursery nurse working with children and later worked in the health profession. To have been at home with my children and enjoy my garden has been quite literally an inspiration. Horticulture has sustained me through the ebb and flow of life. Suffering with ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) for 6 years myself, I have first hand knowledge of the limitations illness can impose on you. However, through that experience I also found how immersing yourself in horticulture, at any level, is a fantastic therapy.

During my ME, I studied for my RHS exam, soaking up knowledge and I am continuing to do so. To then be able to inspire people to grow and get back in touch with nature has become a passion. To incorporate and share the health benefits of horticulture with others is simply a pleasure. I have proved its benefits to my own family and encouraged others to investigate what it can do for them. Growing your own organic produce is a well-recognised health benefit, on whatever scale you can do it. That is just a start. The possibilities are endless, the potential for learning is limitless and the expression for creativity is boundless. It is contagious. It continues in a beautiful cycle, as does Mother Nature herself!

Potting Shed Direct started as a small online nursery. It is time to think bigger. This on line shop began to take shape with the help of Ben at Atomic Apple Design earlier this year. Cheers Ben! What makes us different? Lots of companies big and small offer plants. The personality of Potting Shed Direct is what makes us different. We want to inspire, inform and enable you.

I am a professional gardener. I design, create and maintain gardens for my clients. It is important for me to share the experience with my clients and encourage them to take as active a role as they wish to engage in. Friends, family, clients and indeed people I have just met ask for advice and ideas to take into their gardens and indeed into their lives. It is apparent that a wonderful experience takes place when people start to think about growing. Here at Potting Shed Direct we work with Mother Nature not against it. So organic products are available here and alternatives found for the ‘things you would prefer not to have’ in the garden! Our designs try and harmonise with nature. There is always a solution to a problem.

We are passionate about the environment we live in. You will find many organisations that may interest you can be accessed from here. We actively encourage interaction with us. Try getting involved in our forums. Follow our progress, trails and trials via our blog. It really is a community not just a shop. Above all let us know whether you enjoy the experience.

Try it and see!! It is 100 % contagious. That is my health warning!!
