Our children are busy too getting ready for their produce. Giving them a small plot well dug and fertile is a great way to start them off. Tyres make great small plots! Lettuce, carrots, a few strawberry plants or calendula all grow really well for little green fingers. Get them to sow a few peas in a pot, keep inside and plant out when 8-9 cms tall. Protect with a sheet of newspaper if frost is around. My children never get peas to the kitchen..... they always end up in their bellies!! They will need supporting but tyres make great wigwam bases. The outsides of the tyres can be painted too, making a very quick attractive children's garden.
